Answer:
Let the fraction be = x/y
ATQ,
x + 1/y = 3/4
⇒ 4(x + 1) = 3y
⇒ 4x - 3y + 4 = 0.....................(1)
and x/y+2 = 1/2
⇒ 2x = y + 2
⇒ 2x - y -2 = 0.........................(2)
Solving (1) and (2), we get,
4x - 3y + 4 = 0
4x - 2y - 4 = 0
Subtracting both we get,
-3y + 2y + 8 = 0
⇒ -y = -8
⇒ y = 8
Substituting y = 8 in (1), we get,
⇒ 4x - 3(8) + 4 = 0
⇒ 4x = 20
⇒ x = 5
Hence the fraction is 5/8.
