if numerator of fraction is increased by 1 its value became 3/4 if it's denominator is increased by 2 its value becomes 1/2

Let the fraction be = x/y

ATQ,

x + 1/y = 3/4

⇒ 4(x + 1) = 3y

⇒ 4x - 3y + 4 = 0.....................(1)

and x/y+2 = 1/2

⇒ 2x = y + 2

⇒ 2x - y -2 = 0.........................(2)

Solving (1) and (2), we get,

4x - 3y + 4 = 0

4x - 2y - 4 = 0

Subtracting both we get,

-3y + 2y + 8 = 0

⇒ -y = -8

y = 8

Substituting y = 8 in (1), we get,

⇒ 4x - 3(8) + 4 = 0

⇒ 4x = 20

x = 5

Hence the fraction is 5/8.
