If on going 40J of heat to a system work done on the system is 10J what will be the change in internal energy of the system.

ΔQ(heat energy)=ΔU(internal energy+wd(work done)
ΔQ=40J
WD=-10J(∵work is done on the sustem)
∴internal energy ΔU=40+10=50J
