Answer:

First lets translate this question into an equation, lets call the number x :

If 1/4 of a number is added

To what is 1/4 of the number added? To itself I assume:

result=x+x4

and 1/3 of the result

result3

is 15 greater than half of the number

result3=x2+15

So we have

(x+x4)⋅13=x2+15

First let’s expand the left side:

(x+x4)⋅13

(4x4+x4)⋅13

(4x+x4)⋅13

(5x4)⋅13

5x12

Now the right side:

x2+15

x+302

So

5x12=x+302∣⋅12

5x=6(x+30)

5x=6x+180∣−6x

−x=180∣⋅(−1)

x=−180

It really checks out.
