It is false that, if one end of the rod is attracted by a magnet, one can conclude that the rod is a magnet.
• Attraction is not a valid reason to determine the presence of a magnet because attraction can also take place between a magnet and a ferromagnetic metal.
• Similarly, there are chances that the attracted rod is made out of ferromagnetic metal which can be also attracted by a magnet.
• The only solution for determining the magnetism of the rod is to test the rod with a normal ferrimagnetic material,if the rod becomes able to attract that material then we can confirm that the rod is a magnet.
