The product of the roots of a quadratic equation ax²+bx+c=0 is  \frac{c}{a} .
If the roots are reciprocal of each other (say m and  \frac{1}{m} ) their product will be 1. So
 \frac{c}{a}=1 \\ \frac{k}{2} = 1 \\ k=2

given roots are p,1/p
product of roots=c/a
⇒px1/p=1=k/2
⇒k/2=1
⇒k=2
