Answer

Value of p = -6,

and

Other root = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given quadratic equation

2x²+px+4 = 0 ---(1)

and

One root (m) = 2 /* given

Let the second root = n

i ) Substitute m=2 in equation (1), we get

2(2)²+p×2 +4 =0

=> 8+2p+4=0

=> 12+2p=0

=> 2p = -12

Divide each term by 2, we get

=> p = -6

ii ) Now,

Compare 2x²+px+4 =0 with

ax²+bx+c=0, we get

a = 2 , b = p , c = 4

Sum of the roots = -b/a

==> m + n = -(-6)/2

==> 2 + n = 6/2

==> 2 + n = 3

==> n = 3 - 2

==> n = 1

Therefore,

Value of p = -6

and

Other root = 1
