If one of zero of polynomial 4x²+kx-1 is 1, then find the values of x

rreed8249: Find values of x or k??
Anisha231: Oh sorry it's k
Anisha231: Thanks anyways

Zeros or roots of a polynomial means it satisfies the polynomial
Hence f(1)=0,
SO,    4+k-1=0,
thus k=-3

Anisha231: Thank you

Hey user !!

Here is your answer !!

_________________________________________

Given -> x=1

Put value of x in the equation

4(1)^2 + k(1) - 1=0

4(1) +K -1=0

4-1+k=0

3+k=0

k=-3

Now the correct equation is 4x^2+(-3)(x) -1

4x^2-3x-1=0

4x^2-4x+x-1=0

4x(x-1)+1(x+1)=0

4x+1=0,x-1=0

4x=-1,x=+1

x=-1/4 , x=+1

Hope it is satisfactory :-)
