if one root is 1 then

1+a+3=0

a=-4

 {x}^{2}  - 4x + 3 = 0

 {x}^{2}  - x - 3x  + 3 = 0

x(x - 1) - 3(x - 1) = 0

(x - 3)(x - 1) = 0

so, Second root is 3..

Explanation:

sum of roots = -a

product of roots = 3

let p,1 be the roots of the given equation,

now, p(1) = 3

p= 3

p+1 = -a

3+1 = -a

a = -4
