If one root of the polynomial 2x^2+2x+k=0 is -1/3 then find the value of k

Given:

p(x) = 2x² + 2x + k = 0

• One root = -1/3

To find :

The value of k .

Solution :

• put x = -1/3

=> 2 (-1/3)² + 2 (-1/3) + k =0

=> 2/9 - 2/3 +k = 0

=>( 2-6+9k)/9= 0

=> 9k= 4

=> k = 4/9
