If one root of the quadratic equation kx²-14x+8=o is six times the other find the value of k

Answer:

α + β = -b/a

α + 6α = 7α = 14/k

α = 2/k          ....................(1)

α × β = c/a

α × 6α = 8/k

substituting (1)

2/k × 12/k = 8/k

24/k² = 8/k  →   24/k = 8

k = 3
