let the side of the square be x m
then,area of the rectangle formed=(x-2)(x+1) m^2
thus by the problem,(x-2)(x+1)=x^2-9
=>x^2-x-2=x^2-9
=>x=7 m
thus the side of the square is 7m
then,area of the rectangle formed=(x-2)(x+1) m^2
