Let original side be x m
one side=(3+x)m
other side=(2-x)m
Area=side×side
4 = (3+x)(2-x)
4 = 6-3x+2x-x²
0 =-x-x²+6-4
0 = -x²-x+2
0 = -x²-2x+x+2
0 = -x(x+2)+1(x+2)
0 = (x+2)(-x+1)
Zeroes,x=-2. and. x=1
x=-2 is negative but side cannot be negative.
So, the original side is 1 m.
