Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-

If one side of square is increased by 5 meters and the other sides is decreased by 5 m, a rectangle is formed whose perimeter is 30m

Tᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-

  • Side of Square

sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-

Let side of square be x m

then,

According to 1st Condition :-

RECTANGLE

  • Length(l) = (x + 5)
  • Breadth (b) = (x - 5)
  • Perimeter = 30m

According to 2nd Condition :-

We know that,

  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l + b)

2(l + b) = 30

( l + b) = 30/2

(l + b) = 15. ---(1)

Put the above values of l and b in (1), we get,

(x + 5) + (x - 5) = 15

x + x = 15

2x = 15

x = 15/2

x = 7.5 m

Hence,

  • Side of Square = x = 7.5m

Answer:

let the 2 sides be x-5, x+5

perimeter of rectangle 2(l+b)

2(x-5) +(x+5) =30

(x-5) +(x+5) =30/2

x+x = 15

2x=15

x= 15/2

x= 7.5 m
