if one strand of DNA has a sequence of ATCCACGACTAG and the second strand undergoes transcription what would be the base sequence on mRNA

2)ATCCACGACTAG
3)AUCCACGACUAG
4)AUGCACGACTAG

Hello friend !!!

Nice question

And here's the answer you are looking for

Transcription is the process in which the DNA is copied into a messenger RNA or mRNA.

Since this is a process of copying, the sequence of the nitrogen base in DNA is exactly same as the sequence in mRNA.

So if the DNA contains ATCCACGACTAG then the mRNA will contain the same sequence.

But one more thing is that RNA does not contain thymine (T) instead it contains Uracil (U). That means DNA contains Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Guanine (G) & Cytosine (C) but RNA contains Adenine (A), Uracil (U), Guanine (G) & Cytosine (C).

Therefore, the answer to this question becomes (3)AUCCACGACUAG

Here the sequence is same and Thymine (T) is replaced by Uracil (U).
