If one tangent segment of a circle from an external point is 7cm, what the length of the other tangent segment from the same external point to the same circle? *​

Let external point be B. OA be radius of circle. 

Given: 

OB=12.5 cm

AB=12 cm

In right triangle, AOB, by Pythagoras Theorem,

OB2=AB2+OA2

AO2=OB2−OA2=12.52−122=12.25

∴AO=3.5 cm

Diameter=2(AO)=2(3.5)=7 cm
