Given :  one zero of the quadratic polynomial (k - 1)x²+ kx + 1 is -4,

To find : the value of k

Solution:

quadratic polynomial (k - 1)x²+ kx + 1

-4 is one zero

Hence substituting k = - 4 will result into zero

(k - 1)(-4)²+ k(-4)+ 1  = 0

=> 16(k - 1) - 4k + 1 = 0

=> 16k - 16 - 4k + 1 = 0

=> 12k  = 15

=> 4k = 5

=> k = 5/4

Value of k = 5/4
