Given :- If origin is the mid point of the line joining of the points A(4-6) and B(a,b) the values of 'a' and 'b' are equal to ?

Solution :-

we know that, if (x,y) is mid point of (a,b) and (c,d) then,

  • x = (a + c)/2
  • y = (b + d)/2

so, (x , y) are given as origin (0,0) .

then,

→ 0 = (4 + a)/2

→ 0 * 2 = 4 + a

→ 4 + a = 0

→ a = (-4)

and,

→ 0 = (-6 + b)/2

→ 0 * 2 = -6 + b

→ -6 + b = 0

→ b = 6

therefore, a is equal to (-4) and b is equal to 6.
