To find p - 1/p
Use the identity,
(a+b)^2 - (a-b)^2 = 4ab
Put a = p and b = 1/p
So we get
(p + 1/p)^2 - (p - 1/p)^2 = 4
12^2 - (p - 1/p)^2 = 4
144 - 4 = (p - 1/p)^2
p - 1/p = sqrt(140) or - sqrt(140)
