Answer:

(10+3\sqrt{3})/2

Step-by-step explanation:

P^{2}=(1+\sqrt{3})^{2}=1+\sqrt{3}^{2}+2\sqrt{3}

                    =1+3+2\sqrt{3}

                    =4+2\sqrt{3}

1/P^{2}=1/(4+2\sqrt{3})

     ={1/(4+2\sqrt{3})}*{(4-2\sqrt{3})/(4-2\sqrt{3})} (Rationalize)

     =(4-2\sqrt{3})/{(4+2\sqrt{3})*(4-2\sqrt{3})}

     =(4-2\sqrt{3})/{4^{2}-(2\sqrt{3} )^{2}}

     =(4-2\sqrt{3})/{16-12}

     =(4-2\sqrt{3})/4

P^{2}+1/P^{2}=(4+2\sqrt{3})+(4-2\sqrt{3})/4

            =(4+2\sqrt{3})+(2-\sqrt{3})/2

            =((8+4\sqrt{3})+(2-\sqrt{3}))/2

            =(10+3\sqrt{3})/2
