Given :

p,2p-1,2p+1 are three consecutive terms of an AP.

To find :

Value of p.

Solution :

First term of A.P., a₁ = p

2nd term of A.P. , a₂ = 2p - 1

3rd term of A.P. , a₃ = 2p + 1

Now as we know common difference between each two consecutive terms is same.

∴ a₂ - a₁ = a₃ - a₂

So atq,

⇒ 2p - 1 - p = 2p + 1 - 2p + 1

⇒ p - 1 = 2

⇒ p = 2 + 1

p = 3

Required value of p = 3
