The given equation is

4x+3y=23

Since (p, 2p+1) is a solution to this equation, It should satisfy the equation.

Therefore,

4(p)+3(2p+1)=23

4p+6p+3=23

10p=23-3=20

p=20/10

=> p=2

The value of p is 2 ,if (p,2p+1) is the solution of the linear equation 4x+3y=23.

Given:

  • A point (p, 2p+1)
  • A linear equation 4x+3y=23.

To find:

  • Find the value of p.

Solution:

Concept to be used:

If P(r,s) is a point and it is lies on the linear equation ax+by+c=0, then the point P satisfies the equation.

i.e. ar+bs+c=0

Step 1:

As point is (p, 2p+1).

Value of x= p

y= 2p+1

Step 2:

Put values of x and y in the equation.

4(p) + 3(2p + 1) = 23 \\

or

4p + 6p + 3 = 23 \\

or

10p = 23 - 3 \\

or

10p =  \: 20 \\

or

p =  \frac{20}{10}  \\

or

\bf p = 2 \\

Thus,

Value of p is 2.

If (p,2p+1) is the solution of the linear equation 4x+3y=23.
