P(A) : P(A') = 3 : 5

let the common factor of the ratios be x,

Now,

P(A) : P(A') = 3x : 5x

We know,

==> P(A) + P(A') = 1

==> 3x + 5x = 1

==> 8x = 1

==> x = 1/8

P(A) = 3x

==> 3 × 1/8

==> 3/8

Hence, P(A) is 3/8
