If p and q are the roots of 2x2 + 3x – 6 = 0 then the value of p2 + q2 .

α+β=23

And

α.β=−3

Therefore,

α2+β2=(α+β)2−2αβ

=49+6

=433

Hence, the equation will be

x2−(433+4)x+(9+2(433+4)=0

4x2−49x+118=0.
