(i) (p + q)2 + 4pq

if ax²+bx+c=0 is a equation then sum of roots = -b/a

product = c/a

(p + q)2 + 4pq = (-(-4)/2)²+4(1/2)

= 4+2=6

p3 + q3 =  (p+q)³-3pq(p+q)

= -(-4)/2)³-3(1/2)(-(-4)/2)

= 8-3 = 5
