If p and q are two prime numbers , then LCM (p,q) is pq

Given : p and q are two prime numbers

To find : The LCM (p,q)

Concept :

HCF :

For the given two or more numbers HCF is the greatest number that divides each of the numbers

LCM :

For the given two or more numbers LCM is the least number which is exactly divisible by each of the given numbers

Relation between HCF and LCM :

HCF × LCM = Product of the numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given numbers

The given numbers are p and q

p and q are two prime numbers

Step 2 of 2 :

Find LCM (p,q)

We know that prime number is a natural number greater than 1, which is only divisible by 1 and the number itself

So HCF ( p, q) = 1

HCF × LCM = Product of the numbers

⇒ 1 × LCM (p,q) = p × q

⇒ LCM (p,q) = pq

Hence LCM (p,q) = pq
