Explanation:

This can be explained with the help of an example:-

Assume p (prime no) = 3

Nd assume k² be a no divisible by 3,say, 18

Now

 \frac{ {k}^{2} }{p}  =  \frac{18}{3}  = 6

As we have said that if k² is divisible by p, k must also be divisible by p

So

 \frac{k}{p}  =  \frac{ \sqrt{18} }{3}  =  \frac{3 \sqrt{2} }{3}  =  \sqrt{2}
