=>p+ q = 12, pq = 22
=> (p+q)^2 = p^2+q^2 + 2pq
=> (p+q)^2 -2pq = p^2+ q^2
=>p^2 +q^2 = (12)^2 -2(22)
=> p^2 + q^2 = 144 - 44 = 100
=> p^2+q^2=100

USING IDENTITY=(a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2
a=p,b=q
(a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2
(p+q)^2=p^2+2×p×q+q^2
12^2=p^2+q^2+44
144=p^2+q^2+44
p^2+q^2=144-44=100
