if p+q=√13. ------>(1)
and, p-q=√5. --->(2)
now,

squaring both sides of both equations, we get

(1) eq. p^2 + q^2 + 2pq=13----->(3)
(2)eq. p^2 + q^2 - 2pq=5------>(4)

now, subtracting 4th eq. from 1st eq. we get

2pq = 8

.°. pq = 4

hence required answer is 4...
