If p-q=9 and pq=36, find the value of
1) p+q
2) p2-q2​

p - q =9 -----(1)

pq =36 ------(2)

solving equation (1) we get,

p = 9+ q -----(3)

put the value of p in equation (2)

then we get,

p(p +9) = 36

p²+ 9p -36=0

p² +12p -3p -36 =0

p(p+ 12) -3(p +12) =0

(p+12)(p-3) =0

then

p+12=0

p = -12

and

p-3=0

p=3
