if p, q are the zeros of the polynomial f (x) = x2- 2 x - 8 then find the value of p square + Q square

since p and q are the zeroes of x²-2x-8
therefore , p+ q= 2
and pq= -8

now , p²+q²= (p+q)-2pq
= 2 -2(-8)
= 2 + 16
= 18
