If P(X) = 0.3, P(Y) = 0.9, and P(X and Y) = 0.2, what is P(X or Y)?

the meaning of 'or' is union which is denoted by 'U'

so

ok there is formula for it

p(xUy)=p(X)+p(y)+p(x and y)

= 0.3 +.9 +.2

= 1.4

so

p(xUy) = 1.4

◉ in formula the and means intersection
