Given:

p = x+1 and 4p-3/2 - 3x+2/5 = 3/2.

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

As we have given the value of p = x + 1 and an equation

4p -  \frac{3}{2}  - 3x +  \frac{2}{5} =  \frac{3}{2}   \:  \:  \: (i)

So, after putting the value of 'p' in equation (i), we have

4(x + 1) -  \frac{3}{2}  - 3x  +  \frac{2}{5}  =  \frac{3}{2}

4x + 4 -  \frac{3}{2}  - 3x  +  \frac{2}{5}  =  \frac{3}{2}

x + 4 -  \frac{3}{2}    +  \frac{2}{5}  =  \frac{3}{2}

Multiplying 10 on both sides, we have

10x + 40 -  15    +  4  =  15

10x =  -14

x =   \frac{-14}{10}

x =   \frac{-7}{5}

Hence, the value of x is -7/5.
