Answer:

(a) 0

(b) (x - 1)

Step-by-step explanation:

p(x) = 2x² - 3x + 1

(a) p(1) = 2(1)² - 3(1) + 1

= 2 - 3 + 1

= -1+1 = 0

p(1) = 0

(b) From (a) we have that p(1) = 0

Now as by factor theorem if the zero of any linear polynomial when putted as (for example) x in p(x) gives us 0 then the linear polynomial is a factor of p(x)

So from (a),

(x - 1) is a first degree polynomial which is a factor of p(x)
