p(x) = ax² + bx + c  -------------------------- (1)

Let x = 1

Submit in equation (1), we get

p(1) = a + b + c

Given, a + b + c = 0

 p(1) = 0

so, x = 1 is the root of p(x ).

Hope this helps!
