Answer:

x^2 - 10x + 9

x^2 - 9x - x + 9

x (x-9) - 1 (x-9)

(x-1) (x-9)

so,

X = 1 , 9

Question :-

If p(x) =x² - 10x + 9, then find the value of (x)

Answer :-

In order to find the value of x, we have to factorize the expression first.

p(x) =  x² - 10x + 9 = 0

☞ x² - x - 9x + 9 = 0

☞ x(x - 1) - 9(x - 1) = 0

☞ (x-9)(x-1) = 0

Hence x has 2 values.

1st value :-

x - 1 = 0

x = 1

2nd value :-

x - 9 = 0

x = 9

Verification :-

p(9) = 9² - 10(9) + 9

☞ 81 - 90 + 9

☞ 0

p(1) = 1² - 10(1) + 9

☞ 1 - 10 + 9

☞ 0
