Step-by-step explanation:

p(x) = x² - 4 x + 3

when  p( 2 )

p(2) = 2² - 4 (2) + 3

= 4 - 8 + 3

= - 4 + 3 = - 1

p(x) = x² - 4 x + 3

when  p( -1 )

p(-1) =  -1 ² - 4 ( -1 ) + 3

= 1 + 4 + 3 = 8

p(x) = x² - 4 x + 3

when p ( 1/2 )

p(1/2) =  1/2 ² - 4 (1/2) + 3

= 1/4 - 4/2 + 3

= 1 - 8 / 4 + 3

= 7/4 + 3

= 7 + 12 / 4

= 19 / 4
