p(x)=x^2 -ax -3

p(2)= 2^2 -a(2) -3

p(2)= 4 -2a -3

p(2)= 1 - 2a

Since,p(2)= -3

Then, 1 -2a= -3

-2a= -4

a=4/2

a=2
