x^1/p = y^1/q = z^1/r

=> y = x^q/p & z = x^r/p

=> x *y *z = x ^ (1 + q/p + r/p) = 1

=> x ^ [(p+q+r)/p] = 1

=> 1 can be written as x ^ 0

=> x ^0 = 1

=>hence x ^ [(p+q+r)/p] = x ^ 0 = 1

=> p+q+r = 0
