Given, ap = bp

=> (ap)² = (bp)²

=> [√(6-x)²+ (-1-y)²]² = [√(2-x)²+(3-y)²]²

=> (6-x)²+ (-1-y)² = (2-x)²+(3-y)²

By simplifying,

x-y = 3

Hence proved
