(x1,y1)=(a, 0) , (x2,y2)=(0,b)
ratio=k:1
using section formula ---
x=mx2+nx1/m+n
x=k(0)+1(a)/k+1
x=a/k+1
y=my2+ny1/m+n
y=k(b)+1(0)/k+1
y=bk/k+1
putting value of x, y in LHS--
x/a+y/b
=(a/k+1)/a+(bk/k+1)/b
=(1/k+1)+(k/k+1)
on taking LCM, it gives
=1+k/k+1
=1
LHS=RHS
Hence proved
