Given:

  • p(y)=4+3^y-y^2+5y^3

To Find:

  • Value of polynomial  p(-1)

Solution:

      ⇒     p(y)=4+3^y-y^2+5y^3

Rearranging the polynomial

      ⇒    p(y) =5y^3-y^2+3y+4

Put  y = -1 in the polynomial

     ⇒     p(-1) =5(-1)^3-(-1)^2+3(-1)+4

     ⇒      p(-1) =5(-1) -1 -3+4

     ⇒      p(-1) = -5 -1 -3+4\\

     ⇒      p(-1) = -9+4\\

     ⇒      p(-1) = -5

Thus, the value of p(-1) \ is \ - 5
