Question:-  if pemba gives three of the chocolate from what he possesses to ujeli then they will have equal number of chocolates. if ujeli gives two of the chocolates from what he possesses to pemba, then pemba will have 2 more than the double of the chocolate with what ujeli is left with. find the number of chocolates possessed by each intially.

Answer:-

Let the number of chocolates possessed by pemba and ujeli be x and y  respectively.

Given,

          x - 3 = y + 3 ---------------------(1)

 and   x + 2 = 2(y-2) + 2---------------(2)

from (1),

         x - y = 6

         x = 6 + y ---------------------(3)

substituting value of x in (2)

         (6 + y) + 2 = 2(y-2) + 2

          6 + y + 2 = 2y - 4 +2

          8 + y = 2y - 2

          y = 10

substituting value of y in (3)

          x = 6 + 10

          x = 16

Hence,

          the number of chocolates pemba originally had = 16

          the number of chocolates ujeli originally had = 10
