Given:

The percentage change in current through a resistor is 1%.

To find:

% change in power ?

Calculation:

The general expression of POWER in electric circuit is :

P =  {i}^{2}  \times R

  • Now, for small errors in current and resistance (< 6%) , we can say:

 \implies \:  \dfrac{\Delta P}{P} = 2 \bigg( \dfrac{\Delta i}{i} \bigg) + \dfrac{\Delta R}{R}

  • Now, since resistance is constant, value of ∆R/R = 0%.

 \implies \:  \dfrac{\Delta P}{P} = 2 \bigg( 1\%\bigg) + 0\%

 \implies \:  \dfrac{\Delta P}{P} = 2 \%

So, percentage change in power is 2%.
