Given:

A rectangle with

  • Length = 14 m
  • Breadth = b

A square with

  • Side = 8 m

Both figures having the same perimeter.

What To Find:

We have to find the area of the rectangle.

How To Find:

To find the area of rectangle, we have to know and take

  • Perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle
  • Formula of perimeter of square = 4 × side
  • Formula of perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)
  • Substitute the value and solve to find the breadth of rectangle.
  • Formula of area of rectangle = l × b

Solution:

  • Finding the perimeter of square and rectangle.

As we know that,

⇒ Perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle

Substitute the values,

⇒ 4 × 8 = 2(14 + b)

Multiply 4 and 8,

⇒ 32 m = 2(14 + b)

As we know that perimeter of sqaure and rectangle is same so as the perimeter of square and rectangle is 32 m.

  • Finding the breadth of rectangle.

As we know that,

⇒ Perimeter = 2(l + b)

Substitute the value,

⇒ 32 = 2(14 + b)

Remove the brackets,

⇒ 32 = 28 + 2b

Take 28 to LHS,

⇒ 32 - 28 = 2b

Subtract 28 from 32,

⇒ 4 = 2b

Take 2 to LHS,

\sf{\dfrac{4}{2} = b}

DIvide 4 by 2,

⇒ 2 = b

  • Finding the area of rectangle

Using the formula,

⇒ Area = l × b

Substitute the values,

⇒ Area = 14 × 2

Multiply the 14 by 2,

⇒ Area = 28 m²

∴ Thus, the area of rectangle is 28 m².
