the plant will die .as the work of phloem is to transport food to the various parts of plant

Answer: If the phloem at the base of a branch is removed, than lower area of the branch will not receive food from the leaves. But the plant will not die, as it will continue to receive food from other branches as food can move in phloem in both the direction
