Given info : If photon energy is near about 3.5 eV, then it causes the sunburn i.e. to break the bond in molecules of human skin.

To find : This corresponds to the wavelength in the ..

solution : energy of photon, E = 3.5 eV = 3.5 × 1.6 × 10^-19 J

= 5.6 × 10^-19 J

we know, energy of photon is given by, E = hc/λ

∴ λ = hc/E = (6.63 × 10^-34 Js × 3 × 10^8 m/s)/(5.6 × 10^-19 J)

= 3.5518 × 10^-7 m

= 355.18 × 10^-9 m

= 355.18 nm

we know, The range of ultraviolet rays is 100 - 400 nm. and it is obvious that 355.18 nm lies between 100 - 400 nm.

Therefore the corresponds wavelength in the region of ultraviolet rays.
