If pitcher plant is green in colour and carries on photosynthesis then why does it feed on insects

It is true that a pitcher plant with chlorophyll can make food in his body...but it is not enough for it to live....so it feeds insects to fill it's hunger.

Yes , Pitcher plant is green in colour as it has chlorophyll and it can perform photosynthesis.

But still it's an Insectivorous plant.

Pitcher plant, also called as Nepenthes , is a Insectivorous plant that feed on insects.

They grow in nitrogen deficient soils.

Since, they require nitrogen , they feed on insects to fulfil the nitrogen requirements of their body.

Hence , Pitcher plant depends (feeds) on insects.
