Given

point (a,-4)is the mid point of line segment joining points P(-6,5) and R(-2,3)

To Find

Value of a

\sf\huge\bold{\underline{\underline{{Solution}}}}

Let Q (a,4) be the mid point of line segment having points P(-6,5) and R(-2,3)

first we have to find midpoint of PR and then we will compare the x coordinate and y coordinate with the Mid point e.g Q(a,4)

Mid point of PR =

\sf Midpoint \: of \:PR=  \dfrac{x_{1 }+ x_{2}}{2}  \: , \dfrac{y_{1} + y_{2}}{2}

Midpoint of PR=-6-2/2 , 3+5/2

Midpoint of PR=-8/2 ,8/2

Midpoint of PR=(-4,4)

Now,we will compare the x and y coordinate with the Q(a,4)

Midpoint of PR=(-4,4)=Q(a,4)

a=-4

Correct option is (a)-4
