If point P is 17cm from the centre of a circle of radius 8cm find the lenght of the tangent drawn to the circle from point P

I think it's length is 9 cm . I don't confirm about it .

The points are named as in the diagram.
OP = 17 cm, OQ = 8 cm
So,
OR = OQ ( radii of same circle)
= 8 cm
angle ORP = 90° ( PR is the tangent)
Hence,
PR \: = \sqrt{{OP}^{2} - {OR}^{2} }
= 15 cm
