Given: PQ perpendicular PS, PQ//SR and ZQRT=63°

To find: values of x and y

Sol: if pq//sr and q is the transversal then x+2x=angle qrt=63°( interior alternate angles)

2x+x=63

3x=63

x=63/3

x=21°

therefore angle pqs=2x=2×21=42°

In triangle pqs,

angle p=90°

angle q=42°

therefore angle p+ angle q+ angle s or y=180 (angle sum property of triangle)

90°+42°+y=180

132°+y=180

y=180-132=42°
